The Arizona State Roleplay handbook
Great roleplay.
Starts with you.
This guide is the single source of truth for how staff operate, enforce rules, and grow within the server. New trainee or veteran administrator, you're expected to know it.
Our mission is a realistic, fair, and enjoyable ER:LC experience for every player. That starts with staff who are professional, consistent, and approachable.
Read this guide in full, keep it bookmarked, and ask leadership if anything is unclear.
This document is not to be shared in any way. Failure to comply with this rule may result in a staff blacklist.
Staff standards
An asterisk (*) means the rule also applies while off duty.
SPaG, spelling, punctuation and grammar, is required while on duty.
This standard is not required while you are off duty.
You must remain professional while on duty.
In the case of an argument, you must not join in. Diffuse the situation first, then tell those involved to make a report or ticket. If the situation does not de-escalate, punishments may be authorised. Contact a higher rank if you cannot handle a punishment.
De-escalate situations.
You must not escalate a situation under any circumstances. *
Ensure fair moderation.
Listen to all sides and hear each person’s account before making a final decision. Do not rely solely on verbal evidence; seek video where possible. Witnesses alone are not reliable evidence, as they may be dishonest.

Rank abbreviations
The short codes you'll see on rosters, in Discord, and on duty. Look up your own before your first shift.
No matching ranks. Try another code or name.
Callsigns
When you join the staff (Sheriff) team, your callsign must follow the format RANK-CALLSIGN.
Preview only. Use your assigned rank and callsign.
- Failure to set it correctly, or impersonating a higher rank, may result in an infraction.
- Keep your callsign professional at all times.
- Unsure of your abbreviation? Check the Rank Abbreviations page.
Responding to mod calls
Have a speech ready before you respond. Something like:
"Hello, my name is [username], I am a staff member for Arizona Roleplay. How can I assist you?"
- Never ignore or void a mod call.
- Park your vehicle properly before responding.
- Once resolved, ask "Anything else?" before closing out.
- Witnesses and statements aren't reliable evidence on their own.
- Hear all sides before deciding, skipping this can lead to punishment for you.
Staff commands
Available commands vary by rank and admin system. Check yours before you rely on it.
:cmds
:log punishment username reason → kick | warn | ban
- Never use a command you aren't authorised for.
- Commands are for legitimate moderation or admin purposes only.
- "All" / "others" / multi-player commands need high-rank permission first, misuse may mean a blacklist.
- Shutdowns require sign-off from an Assistant Director or higher.
- Command abuse can lead to disciplinary action.
- Use at least 5 letters of a username in commands, fewer counts as LLC and may be an infraction.
Discord checking
Run at least once per shift. In the Staff Commands Channel, run /erlc membercheck, an X means that user isn't in the Discord.
Bring flagged users to the Springfield cinema (theater #1 or #2) and block the entrance/exit with crowd fences or barricades, traffic cones don't hold.
View the user to confirm they're not in a mod scene or driving.
If they're driving, private message them to pull over so their car isn't mid-road.
If they don't pull over, use :jail, this deletes their vehicle.
Use the bring command, you may need it more than once if they're seated in a vehicle.
Once teleported, say: "Hello, you are not in the comms server. Please join it."
Punishments
Every kick runs 25 minutes. Red is always unappealable; Orange is unappealable depending on severity. 12 total actions on one member means a permanent ban.
No matching rules. Try another search or severity.
Filter by Red to see punishments that cannot be appealed.
Staff conduct
The expectations that don't show up in a punishment table but matter just as much.
Be respectful to all players regardless of rank or behavior.
Stay professional in every server and Discord channel.
Never abuse staff powers for personal roleplay or advantage.
Enforce rules consistently and without bias.
Never leak staff information, logs, or player data.
Handle reports promptly, don't leave players waiting.
Admit mistakes and correct them when they happen.
Stay in character on duty, except when actively enforcing.
Appeals
Appeals may only be filed for punishments not marked unappealable. A Senior Moderator or higher reviews the evidence, discusses with the issuing staff member if needed, and makes the final call. Keep appeals factual and respectful.
Staff must be familiar with this guide before taking any administrative action, ignorance of policy is never an excuse for inconsistent enforcement. When in doubt, escalate before you act.
By representing Arizona Roleplay as a staff member, you agree to uphold these standards, protect the player experience, and lead by example at all times.
